Great Expressions Board Member Dr. Mert Aksu Leads Industry Innovation and Education

Great Expressions Dental Centers Board Member, Dean and Professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, Dr. Mert N. Aksu, has been named a recipient of the 2021 American Dental Education Association’s (ADEA) Gies Award for Vision – Dental Educator.

The William J. Gies Awards are the most coveted honors in oral health and dental education and recognize the efforts of individuals, institutions and organizations that exemplify the highest standards of vision, innovation and achievement in oral health and dental education.

Dr. Aksu was nominated for his ability to institute changes now to address issues in the future. His unique and innovative approach to dental education and oral health care have positively impacted the profession.

Dr. Aksu joined the Great Expressions Dental Centers (GEDC) board in 2013.  “We are fortunate to have someone of Dr. Aksu’s qualification and dedication guide us as a Board Member of Great Expressions Dental Centers. We have benefited from his insight and expertise for years and celebrate this recognition with him.” said Great Expressions President and CEO Adesh Ramchandran reflecting on Dr. Aksu’s impact.

“Dr. Aksu’s commitment to GEDC as a Board Member is greatly appreciated. His assistance and guidance in formulating the group’s clinical approach has resulted in a better experience for our patients and doctors.” said Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Robert Brody.

Dr. Aksu will receive his award along with seven other Gies awardees on March 12, 2021, in conjunction with the virtual 2021 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition.
